How to access your Office 365 lync account under Linux (Mint)

If you use Lync (Communicator) from Microsoft, you can still connect to your account from Linux without Lync. The way to go is to install Pidgin and Pidgin-Sipe:

First we need to install some tools:

Then install Pidgin and Pidgin/Sipe:

Once the installation have finished, restart your system:

The open Pidgin and configure your account. Basically enter your account name (user@domain.tld) and password.

You’ll also have to update the “Authentication scheme” to TLS-DSK:

pidgin_user_authentication

And replace the user agent:

pidgin_user_agent
